RPCuk Planner Of The Year

RPCuk is, once again, inviting applications for its Annual “Planner Of The Year” Awards for 2010.

Most people have heard the expression "behind every good man is a good woman" but it is rarely acknowledged that, to paraphrase, "behind every good project manager is a good planner". So, to recognise the crucial - and often unsung - role that planning engineers of all types play in contributing to the successful implementation of projects both in the UK and abroad, RPCuk will be presenting awards in 4 categories at the 2010 Big Project Expo.

So, what makes a good planner? And what criteria does a planner need to satisfy in order to win an award? An independent panel of judges will be assessing nominations based upon several key criteria, including (but not limited to)...

  • Contribution to successful project delivery...
How critical was the plan to achieving the required objectives?
  • Composition and construction of the plan...
How complex was the plan and how robust? Did it adhere to best practice guidelines? How was progress tracked? Were any special techniques used for designing, formulating and executing the plan?
  • Personal qualities of the planner...
What qualities did the planner bring to the project? What obstacles did he/she have to overcome? How did the planner communicate with the Project Manager, stakeholders and other key members of the project team?

Awards will be presented in 4 categories…

  • UK Project Planner of the Year
  • Junior Project Planner of the Year (aged under 30)
  • Overseas Planner of the Year (based outside the UK)
  • Planning Team of the Year
